Please be advised that Wikipedia is not considered an academic or scholarly source. Thus, it cannot be used as a secondary source in any of your papers. Since Wikipedia is written collectively, and without verification as to the validity of the content written by its users, it is not appropriate to use in academic assignments.
However, please note that it is OK to begin your research using Wikipedia as a starting point. If you would like to know a broad definition about a subject and choose to Google this source, often times the first return will direct you to a Wikipedia page. This is fine. Conversely, it would then be a good idea to take what you have learned and apply those search terms to the library catalog or another scholarly database to find credible sources for your paper.
